8th Grade Promotion Assembly Info 2020
Hello Hill Families of 8th Grade Students,
Giving our 8th grade students a proper send off has been weighing heavily on my heart since we heard the news that we would not be returning to in-person schooling for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. While the promotion from 8th grade to high school is not the same as high school graduation, 8th grade promotion ceremonies have been a long standing tradition in every District 204 middle school. We feel very sad that we are unable to have those ceremonies this school year.
In order to help the 8th grade students still feel honored and special, the 8th grade teachers, administration, and PTSA have planned the following for the 8th grade students.
1. Each 8th grade team will be creating a virtual, team-based promotion ceremony video. This link will be shared with the students on May 28th at 9:00 am. Embedded in this ceremony will be recognition for special awards and Honor Roll designations. Once we have those awards in hand, Mr. Harmon, Ms. Brand, and I will personally deliver those awards to the recipients' front porches.
2. Honors Certificates and Promotion Certificates will be printed for the students and mailed to your homes. If your 8th grade child has ordered a yearbook this year, the book will also be delivered to your home. Due to delays with production, yearbooks are anticipated to arrive towards the end of June. Certificates for students will be shipped ASAP.
3. Thanks to the generosity of Hill’s PTSA, we will be providing yard signs to each student congratulating our 8th grade Trailblazers. Distribution procedures for yard signs will be communicated by PTSA.
We know these aren't the same as our traditional activities, but we hope that the videos and recognitions help make our 8th grade Trailblazers feel special and recognized for their accomplishments. Our 8th grade students have been an important part of Hill Middle School, and we will miss their school spirit and leadership.
