Introduction From Our Principal

Thayer J. Hill Middle School was opened by Indian Prairie School District 204 in 1981. It is named after the district’s first superintendent. In 1986/1987 Hill moved from a traditional junior high program to a middle school concept. In 1990, the Association for Illinois Middle Schools designated our building as a demonstration site. We continue to hold this high honor.

Hill is home to approximately 900 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Students are divided into academic, grade level teams. This allows our staff to work closely together to monitor students’ academic and behavioral needs. Our school employs over 100 full and part time professionals.

The educational philosophy of Hill Middle School centers around creating a well rounded environment that provides academic, affective, and co-curricular experiences for its students. We pride ourselves at Hill knowing that every student has a place to fit in and get involved. In addition to what Hill offers, we also have a very involved PTSA that continues to provide support and opportunities for Hill students to get involved.

As Principal, I am most proud about how Hill is student centered, and has appropriately high expectations for all children. Our bumper sticker says it best, “All Students Are Honored At Hill Middle School”.  Thayer J. Hill middle School is truly a school where students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community work together!

On behalf of our entire school community, thank you for visiting our web site. Our web site is dynamic and a work in progress. We intend to update it on a regular basis. We hope this site provides you with useful information.
